Keeping to its style of constant innovation, Google has announced the release of Google Instant Search, a new tool for the most widely used search engine worldwide. Thanks to this tool, the results for our search will be displayed as soon as we start typing.

Despite the release is recent and so far it is only available as long as we use the search engine from our personal account and we enable the option, Google Instant Search has already got people talking.

Once again, the change seems to threaten the work of positioning. The truth is that the use of this tool will make it irrelevant to be in any other place but the first since it will take priority over the rest of the results. On the other hand, it definitely benefits those websites that are designed for appearing as one single word instead of a phrase.

Many users haven’t found Google’s new tool too important. Although it is amazing to get “real-time” results, Google Instant Search doesn’t really make us save a lot of time. Google has announced that the users’ global saving comes to 11 hours per second, but in practice each individual user won’t find this very significant.

Google Instant Search is an innovation for Google’s main product. Beyond the purchases and its constant product diversification, Google has shown that it will not give up presence as a search engine by staying always one step ahead.

The revolutionary way of showing a 360° view of the world that Google Earth offers through Street View arouses resentments in every continent. And now that the giant of the Net is announcing this product’s new functions (like the layers of weather, radar, etc.), “the Big Brother of the streets”, made possible by the Google cars that go around the cities recording the main spots at ‘eye level’, has become the target of computer hackers in some countries where its ‘panoramic eyes’ are ‘not allowed’.

Although up to now Google has faced at least thirty legal investigations related to Google Earth’s Street View, the news reached the top of the webs headings when the UK’s authorities admitted that they have been working on this issue, although they finally concluded that ‘there is no evidence that the data captured by Google –in relation to private WIFI networks- has caused any individual detriment.”

However, legal and criminal actions initiated against Google in USA, Asia, Oceania and Europe because of the way in which its cars drive through the cities recording them (at least 23 countries are discussing the possibility of restricting or banning this activity in their territories) to offer an ‘eye level’ view to any Google Earth or Maps Google user, don’t seem to be the only problem the company has to face. Many people are also pointing their fingers distrustfully to its main video portal.

In Russia, a judge banned YouTube because it was considered to encourage ethnic discrimination and violence in one of the published videos. This clearly brings up a problem that has been subject of debate for quite some time in different parts of the world: the companies’ and users’ responsibility as regards the access to freedom of expression and information.

But despite some differences, and judging by previous similar situations, Google will surely find the way to guarantee its Google Earth tool, which has also been approved by the millions of users around the world.

Although Google Image Search new interface is not available yet, as we were mentioning here there are some users who already criticize it. Luckily, there’s a solution for those who can’t get used to it or find it useless and wish to go back to the previous version of this browser.

Google Image Search’s new interface, which is very similar to its Young competitor Microsoft Bing, can be restored to its old view mode by changing the URL of the image search results. To do this, we must add “&sout=1” (without quotation marks).

So, if we have this link as the result of an image search:

http://www.google.com.ar/images?q=jim%20morrison&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:es-ES:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=es&tab=wi

we only need to add &sout=1. This is what it should look like:

http://www.google.com.ar/images?q=jim%20morrison&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:es-ES:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=es&tab=wi&sout=1

Although it is not very convenient since the user must change the URLs manually, it is a helpful tip. Google itself will surely release a customized option or some kind of add-on for these users if the complaints continue.

Google has made one of the biggest changes in its search interface by updating Google Image Search. From now on, the image search results will be displayed in a different way. The new interface is very similar to that of Microsoft Bing.

In the first place, Google Image Search results will be bigger. If we hover over the image we will be able to see a larger preview.

Then, if we click the link to see the image in its context, Google Image Search layout will not be on top but on the right of the screen. Also, the small preview of the image will be much larger (and, depending on the image, it can even be displayed in full size).

Finally, within Google Image Search innovations, there will be many more search results. Instead of having to move to other pages, we will be able to see more and more results as we scroll down the same page.

This new interface will be made available little by little, as Google updates its servers. On the other hand, Google Image Search’s new interface will not be available for all browsers. First, it will be available for Internet Explorer 7 and 8, SafariGoogle Chrome and Mozilla Firefox 3.

Google just announced the launch of Goggles, which if continues to be developed, without a doubt it’ll change the concept of internet search. For now, it’s only available for the Android systems, and it can be bought over the phone accessing AndroidMarket.

This new application “recognizes” a photo taken with the mobile phone camera and starts an automatic search regarding the content, with no need to introduce any word. Using different tools to explore the image, the program will immediately give us the most relevant searches.

As regards places, Goggles doesn’t even need the photo. With only focusing the camera on the place from which we want information, whether it is a monument or a store, and leaning on the GPS, this tool will provide us with all the information.

At the moment, Google Goggles has a limited use to places, books, contacts information, works of art, monuments, whines and brand logos, but in the future, it is estimated that it will identify food, animals, plants, and even suggest chess moves, taking into account the disposition of the pieces on the table.

This is a new effort by Google to keep on innovating. Regarding the images, it was already launched during the current year, Similar Images and then Image Swirl, which is a search engine that gathers the results based on the contrast similarities, color and the position of the objects.

The new technology, especially its potential more tan its current use, has caused more than one to be alert. Based on the assumption that Goggles will evolve till being able to identify people, many wonder what is the limit. Although the information collected by Goggles is protected by Google’s privacy policy, it can’t be assured how the giant internet uses it or will use it.

This way, Google adds to Google Maps, Froogle, Google Book Search, Google Earth, Google Scholar, Talk, Video and News, a new application that promises revolutionize the way to search on net of networks, even when it will cause a lot of controversy what will be the use of the information given.

Google announced in the last few days what was a secret for some time now, the launch of its own operative system, Chrome OS, which will be release on Q2 2010. According to representatives of the internet´s giant, Chrome OS is fast, simple, secure and oriented to users who spend most of their time surfing the web.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be target=”_blank”>Chrome OSeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform.

Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems. While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google.

Representatives from Google state that “People want to get to their email instantly, without wasting time waiting for their computers to boot and browsers to start up. They want their computers to always run as fast as when they first bought them. They want their data to be accessible to them wherever they are and not have to worry about losing their computer or forgetting to back up files. Even more importantly, they don’t want to spend hours configuring their computers to work with every new piece of hardware, or have to worry about constant software updates. And any time our users have a better computing experience, Google benefits as well by having happier users who are more likely to spend time on the Internet.”

However, some users are skeptical as regards the new OS from Google. Some of them state that it all sounds very familiar to dumb terminals connected to mainframe – simple replace “mainframe” with “internet” and “dumb terminal” with “desktop”. Nevertheless, other assure that It’s an OS for online operations and turns an internet capable device into a screen and keyboard dumb terminal linking directly into Google as the mainframe. The concept relates to the evolution of modern computer use with many people only using their computers for browsing.

Almost a year ago, Google launched its anticipated browser Chrome, featuring speed, minimalistic design and user-friendly interface. Although some internauts are using it (according to statistic Chrome only covers 2.59% in the browser´s war) they think there are some features missing in the browser which others do offer, such as Firefox via plug-ins or add-ons.

That’s why we have a new version of Chrome to make up for plug-ins and add-ons. What´s more, this new enhanced version called ChromePlus it´s faster, more dynamic and efficient.

ChromePlus is certainly an improved version of Chrome, but it´s not official, it´s just a version that uses Chrome´s open-source code. This a good thing for the browser and mostly the users, who are the ones to perform constant changes to application to make it the most –in this case the best among browsers- by adding new features and optimizing its performance.

Among the new features, there´s the possibility to view websites sing Internet Explorer´s rendering engine, meaning that IE tabs are integrated into ChromePlus. The other feature –and perhaps the most interesting one- is the mouse gesture option. The Arrow Trace mouse gesture draws an arrow trace on the page while you using the right button of your mouse. In ChromePlus, you can make efficient commands with easy mouse gestures. Practiced mouse gestures can save you quite a lot of time and are fun.

Plus, ChromePlus offers other enhancements. Among them: Download tools supported in context menu and super drag. With the latter you can drag a link in the page with your left button and drop it somewhere else in the page. This can create a new page (tab) to open the link; Dragging and dropping a block of text in the page will create a page and search the text with your default search engine.

With ChromePlus –as well as in Chrome- you can start a private browsing session allowing users to surf the web without leaving any traces in the browsing or search History, as well as cookies. Still, downloads and bookmarks will be saved.

Even though ChromePlus works flawlessly on most Windows operative systems, it doesn’t support 64 bit version of Windows 7, but this implementation will be added shortly, among with other mouse gesture movements and additional features. Once you try ChromePlus, you won´t feel like using another web browser again. By featuring great speed and functionality and combining Chrome´s design and many useful shortcuts, it´s up to you to give it a try.

Google Chrome OS: Google constantly updating

Google has ended rumors by announcing the launching of a new operating system based on Linux, specially thought for laptops. Although many details are yet unknown, the company announced the name of its product, Google Chrome OS, and guaranteed simplicity, functionality and security.

Despite the small piece of information given by Google about its new product, we have been able to explain certain features of its interface. For instance, thanks to its name, it is possible to notice that the set of programs included will be regarding the access and the user management within the network. In other words, by using Google Chrome OS, it will be possible to access other original applications that will make the user’s task, easy.

Another lead we gathered is the use of Linux as main operating system. This way a new layout of structure is anticipated, by using windows constantly related to Google Chrome. As consequence, this shows a remarkable improvement in Linux browse version, which was a bit buggy when it was released.

As previously mentioned, Google Chrome OS has as a main objective to offer a solution to functionality and security problems that no other operating systems have been able to solve. Reason why, it offers a streamlined interface focus on protecting the system from possible attacks originating in the Web.

The Google world is expanding day after day, creating new and revolutionary systems. Starting with a search engine, a browser and ending with an operating system, the company tries to stay always in the vanguard, offering simple solutions for complex problems. Perhaps is too soon to talk about the launching date, but if we bear in mind that within some months the source code will be published, it is possible to think that for next year we will find thousands of mini laptops with Google Chrome OS.

Google Earth

Whoever thinks of Google Earth as a simple software map is mistaken. Nowadays, this application is one of the most complete software for the 3D Planet´s images visualization, offering satellite images and different type of maps with the help the powerful Google search engine through the original stream technology.

The difference between the cartographic visualization software and Google Earth is that it features an original user-friendly interface: our planet. From this satellite space image of it, we will be able to see any place of the world, turning and rotating it using the mouse.

The most attractive option that Google Earth offers might be the possibility of making incredible zoom in to any region of the world map obtaining satellite images with different resolution levels and details as soon as we zoom in the region.

In this way, Google Earth allows a top-notch online view of cities, and even buildings and streets, but their quality may not be as good on low-end PCs due to technical streaming requirements. It´s also worth mentioning that highest image quality is available on most important cities and metropolis.

Interaction with the interface is quite simple. The sidebar is completely easy-to-use for those users not familiarized with geographic applications.
Just enter the name of the location you want to view, and Google Earth will take you to that spot in a matter of seconds. Hardware components as well as broadband will depend on the loading time as well as its visualization.

Google Earth presents an interesting feature to view different thematic “layers” providing additional information regarding the selected location, as well as climatic conditions in the area, travel services, photo galleries and more.
Another aspect to take into account is that Google Earth enables users to add their own information such as photographs and text.

To sum up, Google Earth stands as an essential application for cultural, educative and geographic purposes, and its success lies on the use of new satellite image visualization technologies. By adding new features on each release, Google Earth will rapidly become an indispensable tool for any PC user.

Are you looking for new ways of surfing the internet? There are many web browsers, some of them deliver stability, others provide overall speed and there is Google Chrome, which offers stability, speed and more.

Who has never heard of Google? This internet giant began as a search engine allowing users to search the internet to find anything they wanted, and without a doubt it´s the most popular and fast search engine on the planet up to date.

Google kept developing software for internet users, and now they bring us Chrome, a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. With its revolutionary Chrome tries to improve what´s been done up to now by Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer and it´s set to be one of the leaders in the field. On the performance side Google has implemented their own JavaScript rendering engine, called V8 that is reported to be 100 times faster than other browsers around.

Unlike the other browsers each new tab you open runs individually of the others. That way if a page or web application crashes it doesn’t affect the other tabs. You just close the offending tab and continue browsing.

Chrome comes with a default dynamic home page. As you use it, the program remembers the sites that you visit most often. The top nine of those appear in snapshots on your home page, along with your most commonly used search engines and bookmarks.

No longer do you search from one box and enter URL’s in another. You use the Omni box for everything including running a search on Yahoo, Live.com or any other search engine. Just start typing Yahoo.com and then hit your tab key and you will see what I mean. Rather than those cluttered up menus, Google Chrome has merely 2 controlling options for all your needs. Namely “control the current page” where it has numerous sub choices in them and “customize and control Google Chrome” tool which acts similar to “choices” in other web browsers. This feature makes Google Chrome really neat in its look and clutter-free.

Chrome continues fixing bugs and errors, so problems are bound to crop up over the coming months. If like most people you rely heavily on Web browsing, you run a risk by putting your online life into the hands of an unproven product. Chrome’s History functions are less versatile than the powerhouse ones built by Firefox. Chrome offers only a simple screen showing your day-by-day history. The ability to sort everything by date, site, or most visited appear to have joined the distaff and spindle on the ash heap.

To sum up, we have to say that Chrome is better than other browsers such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, though it may take some take for Google to fix all the bugs and errors we encountered with Chrome. Still, it´s an amazing web browsers. Calling the design of Chrome’s interface streamlined is an understatement. The program barely looks like a program, and the vast majority of your screen space is devoted to the site you’re visiting–with no buttons or logos hogging space. So there you go, give Chrome a try, as in all Google products and services, this web browser won´t disappoint you.
