Is VLC Media Player going to be available for iPad?

Those who still haven’t satisfied their geeks’ souls with an iPad will have to keep on working to get one. But those who have their brand-new iPads, Apple’s eye-catching tablet computer, will be glad to know that VLC Media Player will soon be available for their recently acquired device.
Yes, that’s right. If this announcement becomes effective, VLC Media Player will be able to play almost any audio or video file in the iPad. But this is still in process, especially because the developers must plan how to turn it into an iPad application, i.e. how to be accepted by Apple when they know VLC can play almost anything, even Flash format files, which Steve Jobs and his people don’t find very appealing.
However, generally speaking, the fact that VLC Media Player finally becomes available for iPad (and, by extension, for iPod and iPhone Touch) won’t require too much work, especially because the playback engine for the tablet PC is similar to the one that desktop PCs use. Nevertheless, everybody knows that, beyond their functionality, iPads don’t have the power of a desktop PC yet, and this could become evident for example when we try to watch HD videos.
However, despite the fact that the iPad may be weak against an HD video or that it can or can’t play Flash files, VLC Media Player will bring countless benefits to the tablet, especially if we think about its abilities for online video and audio streaming and the numerous multimedia formats that are currently left outside IOS operating systems.
