What is your favorite application to download videos from YouTube?
At the end of 2009, YouTube did public the most viewed videos of the year. With hundreds of millions of views the first places, it is to believe that a great number of people visiting these sites would like to download the videos to their computers. Nowadays, there is a wide range of programs very similar to each other to download videos from YouTube. In this case, we’ll deal with YouTubeGet, aTube Catcher, save2pc, YouTube Downloader, jDownloader and VDownloader to know their similarities and differences.
We’ll start with one of the most popular choices: aTube Catcher. This one, just like all of the other applications to download videos from YouTube, MySpace, Google Videos,, etc., is truly simple to use, you only need to paste the video address on the field destined to it and start downloading. However, the main difference of aTube Catcher is its possibility to configure the conversion from the FLV format to others, choosing from different quality, resolution, aspect (4:3 or 16:9) levels, codecs to be used, frames per second, etc.
Similar to aTube Catcher for its simplicity of use and speed to download videos from YouTube, we find save2pc. This software add-on, which explains itself with its name, in a matter of seconds saves on the computer any video to watch it whenever and wherever we want without the need to be online. Its differential point is that save2pc downloads, by default, the videos on AVI format, allowing us not to worry about knowing if the computer will reproduce the typical FLV file that other applications generate.
As regards YouTubeGet, an application that for the moment is only in English, we find a video downloader characterized for offering on its interface, a mini search engine for YouTube videos so we don’t have to get out of the program when we want to find the video that we want to download.
Just like the previous programs, YouTube Downloader is highly accessible and easy to use, although this application holds an interesting option to quickly download videos from YouTube in real high definition. Moreover, from its minimalistic interface, we’ll be able to choose converting the video to be downloaded into FLV or AVI formats, and as we said, download HD videos in high definition in AVI HD and MP4 formats.
As YouTube Downloader, VDownloader also allows to download in HD within seconds, but it’s clear that its main feature is the possibility to save on the computer any video, choosing among a lot of different formats (it also offers some formats directly compatible with devices like Nokia N800/N810 or iPhone mobiles, to name a few).
Finally, one of the most used applications: jDownloader. This complete application is characterized for its versatility when leaving automatically downloading several files at the same time. Normally, used to download files from servers like RapidShare.com, Megaupload.com, MediaFire.com, etc., jDownloader also allows downloading videos from YouTube. So this double functionality is, without a doubt, its main advantage.
As you may see, there are more similarities than differences among these downloaders. All of them extremely fast and simple to use, and whether we choose YouTubeGet, aTube Catcher, save2pc, YouTube Downloader, jDownloader or VDownloader, we’ll succeed at downloading videos from YouTube with any of them.
