Although all the information related to the new version of this popular office suite remained hidden until the conference, several features are now known to the public due to leaked videos and the beta itself. Still, neither the interface nor the additional features were displayed at the conference. But without a doubt, the main attraction was the presentation of Office Web Applications 2010 and Microsoft Mobile 2010.

For the first time, Office will include online versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. Sure, these web apps won’t offer all the bells and whistles that you get with the full desktop versions, but, they will be free. The web apps work with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. In this way, you can run the latest versions of Word, PowerPoint and Excel from any PC with either Firefox or Internet Explorer.

On the other hand, Microsoft Mobile 2010 is a series of programs and services for smartphones and had a number of new features as well as enhancements to existing ones. What is new is the Mobile Document Viewers. This is designed to be used with many smartphones, including the iPhone and Blackberry. With the viewers, you open and view documents on the server. The document is rendered on the server much like a web page, but the viewers are specifically designed to handle Office files.

With this new features and applications, Microsoft wants to provide a consistent Office experience, regardless of whether users are accessing their Office documents through the PC, phone, or browser.
