How do I backup my data?
It´s very common nowadays that files store in our PC be damaged by virus, trojans or unexpected system shutdown. These issues might corrupt files thus uneabling to open them or loosing them completely. For that reason, making backups is part of our daily lives when dealing with important projects or documents.
A quick and effective solution in these cases is having an application to schedule automatic backups, such as Areca. With this tool we can makes backups of our most importan data and save them on any kind of device so we can be safe and secure at all times.
Once we run Areca, the first thing we must do is create a new group. To do this, go to “Edit -> New group”. Next, give the created group a name and a new module will appear on the window. After that, click on the “Create a new target” icon.
Here is where the actual backup process beings. In above-mentioned window we must set a name and folder for the backup. Then, go to “sources” and select “add” to indicate the files you want to backup and use “compression” to set the backup compression level. After we have finished setting all backyp parameters, click on “Save” and it will appear under the group created.
Now, we´ll indicate the appliocation to make the backyp over the target we´ve created. To do this, click on the “Launch a backup process” icon and in that window in which we´ll have to specify the backup type will be displayed. It´s recommended to select “Full backup”. Once we´re through with the process the backup will appear in the folder we previosly set.
With just a few cliclks we´ll be able to make backups of our most relevant data. Having backuped all our data, we can feel safer and we´ll be able to work without worrying about internet threats or power failures.
