You a newspaper reader and you are tired of visiting all your web sites to keep yourself informed? Here’s the solution for you: RSS syndication and Feedreader, a program that will let you include all the news from different web sites in one unique window.

Feedreader
The revolution kicked off by the emergence of Web 2.0 brought about a number of benefits and changes to the way users make use of web sites. One of the most popular new additions to web sites is the inclusion of syndicated content – that is, the ability to publish and quickly distribute up-to-date, accurate news information. This process both allows web sites to automatically display content published on another site and also allows a PC program to access the story behind the headline, giving users the ability to read it without having to browse to the site that published it.
This is a huge advantage if you’re used to reading various news portals, or a single one with constantly updated content, since you don’t have to visit them one by one or keep revisiting the same site to check for new content.
The first thing to do then is to download Feedreader, one of the simplest news reader programs available. Once you’ve got it installed, and once the program is running, use your web browser to go to the site from which you want to obtain the content.
On the site, look for a logo, possibly in orange, with the initials RSS, which provides you with the address of the syndicated content. Alternatively, you may find a button labelled XML, ATOM or RSD. For our purposes, they all do the same thing. Depending on the site, you will need to click either once or twice to get the URL for the content. You should then select and copy this URL.
Now, go to the program and click New->News Feed, or use the F3 key, to open a window in which the URL that you copied should already appear. Now, simply click “OK”.
Feedreader will take a few moments to download the latest 5 published items from the site and will then display them in the central part of the screen. From that moment on, the program will automatically update the headlines as new ones are published by the site. On the top of the screen you’ll be able to organize them by date or alphabetical order, as well as arrange them so that the ones you’ve already red remain at the bottom of the list.
To see the details of any news story, click on its headline and a brief summary of the story will appear in the frame on the right of the screen. One click on the headline will now display the article just as it appears on the original site. Furthermore, there will be an icon with the option “Open browser” on the superior part of the screen, to the right, which will take you to the news’ original web site.
As you see, the access to the information has been simplified in just a few steps. All you had to do was set in Feedreader the website address where it had to take it from, and there! You have access to all the contents without the need to open them one by one in the browser.
